Video Library of the Cultural Center

Preserving the historical memory and educating in the consumption of good cinema are the objectives proposed by the video library attached to the Padre Félix Varela Cultural Center, and its policy of promoting cultural values and national identity.

The rental and copying of films and the compilation of videos that preserve archdiocesan events since the 1980s are some of the services offered to communities and religious orders.
This center has managed to gather more than 5 thousand films of fundamentally Christian themes, among which stand out bibliographies of saints and evangelical cinema such as The Ten Commandments and The Feast of Babette, but also other non-religious films that transmit, in the same way, human values.

The diocesan archive, meanwhile, brings together the news of the archdiocese made since the 80s to the present, as well as recordings that testify the three papal visits, priestly ordinations, episcopal consecrations, the route of the Virgin Mambisa, events with the participation of the Cardinal Jaime Ortega and significant eucharistic celebrations, among others.

The video library also hoards one of the two films filmed in the Archdiocese of Havana at the end of the 80’s and guarantees a good part of the films projected on Thursday, Friday and Saturday at the Walfredo Piñera theater and theater, also based in the cultural center.

Open Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 3:30 pm, you can contact or request the services of the video library at 7 866 71 04, extension 228 or through the emails of your workers Aristides O’Farill, aristideso@ccpadrevarela.org and Pavel Alfonso, pavel.alfonso@ccpadrevarela.org.
